Marist Magic Men – 2026 Season Wrap
What a season it has been for our Marist Magic Men.
After a hard-fought regular season, the boys travelled to Tauranga for the Suzuki NZ National Water Polo Club League Finals Weekend, ready to take on the best teams in the country.
Friday saw Magic secure their place in the semi-finals with a commanding 18–3 victory over Hutt Heat, setting up a mouth-watering clash with cross-town rivals North Harbour.
Saturday’s semi-final was everything you would expect from two evenly matched teams. Marist built a strong lead before North Harbour mounted a determined late comeback, but the boys held their nerve to claim a thrilling 15–14 victory and book their place in the Gold medal final.
Awaiting them was the reigning champions, Tauranga.
In a fitting conclusion to the season, Magic produced another wholehearted performance, matching it with the defending champions for long periods before eventually going down 14–11. While the result didn’t fall our way, the team can be incredibly proud to finish the season as 2026 National Silver Medallists.
Throughout the year this group has shown resilience, commitment, and a willingness to back each other through every challenge. They represented Marist with pride and demonstrated what our club is all about, both in and out of the pool.

More than just a successful season in the pool, you made the senior men’s programme a genuinely enjoyable place to be, built on great company, friendship, and a shared love of the game.
